TV has gone cooking mad. Rick Stein's got a new show on. The River Cottage is back on the box. BBC2 is making Indian food look like a piece of cake (not literally you understand) and now, Channel 4 has a couple of new shows to whet our appetites. As this is Jamie Oliver related, I'll throw in a 'pukka' and a 'lush' to get your chops 'round. Jamie

You think you like reality TV? I guess that depends on the reality. How real can you take it? The blandroids in the BB house have to give up their freedom for a few weeks and make complete prats of themselves all for the sake of a few thousand quid; the contestants in The Apprentice give up their jobs looking for that dream job with Surallen

Well smack me in the face with a sprout, what a shock - or not. Jamie Oliver has spoken about his new Channel 4 programme, Jamie at Home, and how he hopes it will encourage viewers to grow their own vegetables. No way?! Talking to the Manchester Evening News, Oliver said:"It sounds rather worthy, but just put a packet of seeds in the ground, grow

I've been diving in and out of Crisis On Jimmy's Farm (BBC2, Wednesday, 7pm) like a lamb in sheep dip over the last few weeks. Apparently Jimmy Doherty, the centrepiece of the show, is a pal of Jamie Oliver's... but I won't hold that against him. Jimmy, as the title suggests, has a farm with pigs and cows and ferrets and guinea pigs and hay... and

You know what I was thinking just the other day? I thought "There really isn't enough cookery shows on TV". Nope. Five thousand shows a week just isn't enough. So you can imagine how happy I was when I heard that Channel 4 are pledging to try out "new ideas" in the key 9pm slot as it unveiled its winter schedule yesterday... which means... you

It's down to me to kick off the Top 50 this year (no pressure then!), and throughout this first countdown from 50 to 41 you'll find some documentary, some comedy, some serious stuff and some lifestyley stuff. In short, everything we love on telly; the kind of mixture that makes our internal cathode ray tubes flicker with joy. So here we

Coming soon: Channel 4's food season

We've enjoyed an unprecedented year when it comes to food TV (think Jamie, Gordon, Nigella, Gregg and John, Rick, Hugh and even newcomer Anjum Anand all with their own new series). I really don't mind food TV, in fact I love it and could watch it all day (sometimes I do!), so I'm rubbing my hands together for Channel 4's early 2008 food season.
