A third book featuring the weight-obsessed, boy crazy, journal-writing protagonist of author Helen Fielding's hit novels will be released this November, according to a statement Tuesday by publisher Alfred A. Knopf.

Fielding’s lovelorn heroine first appeared on bookshelves in the 1996 best-selling novel, “Bridget Jones’s Diary,” and then in a sequel three years later, "Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason." Together, the books have sold more than 15 million copies in 40 countries.

Both books were adapted into movies starring Renée Zellweger as the title character and Hugh Grant and Colin Firth as her romantic interests.

No title has been announced for the newest novel, but Fielding said the book will be set in present-day London and reflect a later stage in Bridget’s life.

“My life has moved on and Bridget’s will move on, too,” she said in a statement. “I hope people will have as much fun reading it, as I am writing it.”

Sonny Mehta, Knopf chairman and editor in chief, said few writers rival Fielding in "fully capturing the modern woman.”

"Her writing is both funny and heartfelt, and her observations about life are piercing and mordantly rendered," he said in a statement. "I have been waiting a long time to see what’s next for Bridget Jones, and I am beyond thrilled that she’s back.”

Knopf said Fielding will appear as a June 1 breakfast speaker at BookExpo America, an annual booksellers convention to be held in New York.
