1. While performing on the plaza Monday, Miley Cyrus said she had no regrets about the recent headlines she’s made.

"I don't ever really plan to offend people, but sometimes that happens because I think people, they're not open to what they don't understand," the controversial singer told TODAY's Matt Lauer. "This is just who I am."

2. Ten years after being kidnapped at age 14 and held captive for nine harrowing months, Elizabeth Smart said confronting her former captor in a courtroom helped her break free of his psychological hold. 

In a truly inspirational moment, Smart said her mother advised her that the best punishment she could give her captors was “to be happy” and move forward with her life.

3. Sadly, Linny Boyette — better known as TODAY’s superfan for his almost daily appearances on the plaza over two decades — passed away Sunday due to complications from a heart attack, and everyone at TODAY mourns him as a departed member of the show's family. He was 71 years old.

4. Al Roker mentioned a Reddit Ask Me Anything chat Tom Hanks did in which the actor revealed which scene from his 1994 film "Forrest Gump" always gets to him emotionally. The scene features Gump reuniting with Lt. Dan, who is standing before him with two new artificial legs.
