It’s hard to keep a secret when you’re a member of the TODAY family. That’s what producer Matt Greenfield found out when Al announced on-air that Matt had proposed to his girlfriend— two weekends ago.
“He actually got engaged two weekends ago and didn't tell us until yesterday because he was worried about just this reaction,” Willie said.
That didn't stop Al, who went even further urging viewers to tweet their demands to see Matt’s proposal video.
Well fans, the wait is over. And while there was no flashmob, or sneaky tricks, Matt’s proposal was sweet and simply romantic. After dinner at a restaurant, the couple’s waiter brought over a plate with a ring box, and Matt got down on one knee.
“I love you so much, I can’t imagine not spending the rest of my life with you,” he told his girlfriend, Emily, who was in tears. “I know wherever my mother is right now, she’s looking down on us and smiling. Emily ...will you marry me?”
