Do New Yorkers get different nursery rhymes growing up?
That's what NBC New York co-anchor Michael Gargiulo claimed on Tuesday morning, during a chat with Matt and Savannah, in which he revealed he'd never heard the rhyme "This Little Piggy."
Gargiulo revealed he wasn't familiar with the childhood staple, which prompted the TODAY anchors to give a very detailed explanation — involving a shoe-less demonstration.
Using Savannah's bare foot, which was propped on the TODAY anchor desk, Matt rattled off the nursery rhyme on her toes.
"This little piggy went to market, this little piggy stayed home," he said, "this little piggy had roast beef, this little piggy had none. And this little piggy cried wee wee wee" — well, chances are you know the rest.
"Where's the Purell?" Matt joked after his demo was over.
Gargiulo defended his ignorance, claiming that having grown up in New York meant he didn't know the nursery rhyme basics.
The exchange was particularly entertaining for his co-anchor, Darlene Rodriguez, who couldn't believe her eyes.
Savannah seemed happy to have been able to help fill a major gap in Gargiulo's knowledge.
And he may not have known it growing up, but we bet Gargiulo will never be able to forget it now!
