Nancy Fields, a beloved member of the TODAY family, passed away last week. She worked with NBC for 55 years.
"Tom Browkaw said it best. He said NBC could survive without him or the rest of the news division, but not Nancy Fields," said Willard Scott, who worked with Nancy for much of her tenure here.
Nancy began as an intern in 1951 and retired in 2006. Or as Willard puts it: "She started with 'Howdy Doody' and ended up with me."
She will be remembered fondly by our entire staff.
"She was just wonderful," Matt said. "She always had a smile on her face. She had such wonderful things to say for everyone."
