Matt Lauer: Sorry, I won't go into space
Matt Lauer visited "Late Night" on Tuesday and host Jimmy Fallon asked about the lengths the TODAY anchor is willing to go to for the sake of his job. Just where does Matt draw the line for stunts on the show?
Matt said he once politely declined to bungee jump off of a waterfall for TODAY producers. He doesn't like "the bouncing," and confessed that even the Tilt-a-Whirl amusement park ride and Disneyland's spinning teacups make him want to throw up.
"I'm laughing thinking about it!" said Jimmy.
"It's my worst nightmare," frowned Matt.
Jimmy said he noticed that TODAY anchors travel a lot for the show, and wondered if Matt's motion issues rule out an episode shot in space. Matt said it won't happen, citing “an inner ear thing.”
But lest you think that Matt is not a good sport, he took Jimmy's ribbing about his recent "Gangnam Style" dancing in stride, and even agreed to recite the lyrics to John Mayer's "Your Body is a Wonderland" for a sketch. You know, he's game for anything, just as long as there's no spinning, bouncing or anti-gravity involved.
