How do 3,000 butterflies make their way to Rockefeller Plaza? Via Fed Ex, apparently.  This morning, Rockefeller Plaza became Butterfly Plaza, as a tent was erected containing the aforementioned 3,000 butterflies. The butterfly tent was all part of our continuing Today Goes Wild series, as a follow-up to Meredith's recent trip to Mexico to see the monarch butterfly migration.  I stepped into the tent earlier this morning to see how the butterfly tent preps were going:

A hole was cut into the tent (and taped up) in order to fit a camera to catch those amazing butterfly shots!

Every butterfly had to be released from the envelopes in which they were packed.

The tent contained over 3,000 butterflies and 11 different species. After the show, the butterflies will be collected, then donated to 11 zoos across the country.
