Wednesday night, TODAY's Jenna Bush Hager appeared on "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" to talk about her new website, The Novo Project, which she co-founded with her best friend. She had plenty to say about the show, her colleagues, and her "hilarious" grandmother Barbara:
On becoming a TODAY correspondent: "It's not something I planned; I was the girl who stuck my tongue out at the media."
On her coworkers: "I know it's so cliche to say we're a family or whatever, but I mean, Matt is my older, obnoxious brother… We had a moment recently where…I'm supposed to do my segment and he jumped out and I yelled a profanity. Then as he was walking away I said, 'Too bad I don't have secret service anymore.'"
On Kathie Lee and Hoda: "We're live on camera and people don't know what that's like. You can't cuss on our show. Kathie Lee and Hoda, it's a different story."
And when Jimmy complimented her grandmother's sense of humor, Jenna revealed that there's some mutual admiration there. "She's a firecracker. You know what's funny? She kinda thinks you're cute."
Jimmy blushed but seemed into it, especially after he played a clip of Jenna interviewing her grandparents for a TODAY segment about their love story. Jenna and her grandfather, George H.W. Bush, are notorious for being the family "criers." As they sobbed in the interview, Barbara quipped, "you could be Speaker of the House."
"She made a John Boehner joke???" Jimmy laughed, clearly smitten. Watch your back, Mr. President.
