For his 12-year reunion with Kathie Lee, Regis Philbin made the rounds in the studio Wednesday, chatting with Matt Lauer and the crew before his joyful co-hosting gig in the fourth hour.

Regis was originally slated to talk to Al, too, but instead, was surprised to see him riding away, on a bike.

That's right: Al bikes to work. We're just as surprised as you are! So we asked him for a little info about his commute.

What got you into biking and how long have you been doing it?

It's great exercise! And unlike, running, you can coast when you get a little tired on a bicycle.

Do you really bike home from work?

I actually like to bike to work and bike home and have been doing it for a couple of weeks now that the weather has gotten better. It takes longer and you have to plan a little more but you see a lot more of the city and have a good time doing it.

Where's your favorite place to ride?

I love riding either up or down the West Side highway starting at one point like Battery Park and making your way to the little red lighthouse under the George Washington Bridge. When I have a couple of hours, it's spectacular along the Hudson.

Your ride is pretty unusual looking. What, may we ask IS that?

It's a folding bike: a Brompton. It's a British bike that I really, really enjoy riding. You're able to take it to places you normally couldn't take a bicycle. And it folds up so you can get on the subway, in a taxicab, or in a car.

And there you have it. It's hot weather to ride in a suit. We hope he's staying hydrated.
